If your device is either missing or has been stolen, we advise running a Locate right away, from here.
All remote features run from your Lookout Life account require the same criteria to work: that your device be powered on and have a network connection. If these requirements are met and the Locate is successful, Premium features such as remote Wipe and Lock will run successfully as well. If the Locate cannot run, remote Wipe and Lock will not run either.
Note: If you run a successful Wipe, your device will be restored to factory settings and the Lookout Life app will no longer run. Therefore, further Locates will not be possible.
Do Locate and Scream work better if I have a Premium Lookout Life account?
No. Locate and Scream work exactly the same way in both free accounts and Premium accounts.
Should I upgrade to Premium to Lock or Wipe my device if Locate and/or Scream did not work?
The likely reason Locate did not work is that the device was powered off, or the battery ran out. In these circumstances, nothing can run successfully, including apps other than Lookout Life. However, missing phones that are recharged or powered on can regain their connection to the Lookout Life site and be successfully located. In that case, upgrading to Premium would allow you to execute a remote Lock or Wipe assuming you have already set Lookout Life as a device administrator on that device.
Will the accuracy of a Locate increase if I upgrade to Premium?
No. Locate works the same way for both free accounts and Premium accounts, so the accuracy will be the same.
